American Red Cross Blood Drive

The blood drive ministry helps save lives. One donation can save up to three lives.  Every two seconds someone in the United States needs blood and it cannot be manufactured -- blood and platelets can only come from donations.  Unfortunately, less than 38% of the population is eligible to donate and only 10% of the population does donate.  Blood donations help save the lives of cancer, trauma, sickle cell, and burn patients in addition to those persons with chronic diseases.

The Redeemer Blood Drive ministry has been hosting between 4 & 6 blood drives a year for over 15 years.  In 2019, we started co-hosting the drives with Salisbury Presbyterian Church.  Joining efforts has provided an opportunity to connect with a neighboring church and has allowed Redeemer to expand the outreach of this ministry. Salisbury Presbyterian and Redeemer have been alternating as the host location for the co-hosted blood drives.

Members of both churches, as well as community members, are invited to donate at the blood drives. Walk-ins are welcome, although it is preferable to schedule an appointment in advance of the drive. Donations can take up to 1 ½ hours including prescreening. The prescreening time at the drive can be shortened by answering questions at home the day of the drive through RapidPass.®

You can learn more about requirements for donating here.
